A new report shows that while fully remote working is declining, the number of people splitting their work week between the office and home is still going strong.
We are now five years on from when remote working first started becoming the new ‘norm’ and the pandemic had the majority of workers being told to stay at home if they could.
Analysing several data sources, including the Office of National Statistics (ONS), Click Offices has looked into how these flexible working trends have changed since 2020.
According to the report, at the peak of home working (June 2020), 38% of UK workers were fully remote, however, this figure dropped to 16% in January 2025.
While the number of those splitting their time between the office and home has decreased slightly, there are still 25% of workers who are currently hybrid working (this was 31% in November 2023).

The days that these workers are more likely to work from home are as follows:
- Monday (58%)
- Tuesday (67%)
- Wednesday (64%)
- Thursday (63%)
- Friday (65%)
- Saturday (6%)
- Sunday (7%)
Shane Duffy, MD of Click Offices, commented on the findings, “The data shows a lot has changed since 2020, as we see a shift from home working back to reliance on offices and onsite workplaces, whether this is full-time or hybrid working.
“Having access to offices can promote cross-collaboration, encourage upskilling of junior employees and allow teams to bond better in person.
“That said, there are certainly benefits from home working. What is important is to offer employees flexibility to get the best balance for your team.”
