According to recent findings, confidence amongst IT contractors is up year on year.

The research, carried out by Giant Group, revealed latest survey focussing on IT professionals within the contracting community, which found that since 2011, the length between finding new contracts has significantly reduced – 82% said that they were having to wait less than 31 days for their next job, and those having to wait 90+ days has halved in the past two years.

The study also revealed that 64% of IT contractors believe that their earnings will increase over the coming year.

Matthew Brown, Managing Director of Giant Group, said of the research, “During times of budget and staff cuts, the demand for contractors has a tendency to spike. However, as positivity returns to the economy it is encouraging to note that the IT contracting community is reporting an increase in opportunities.

“It’s clear that organisations are continuing to recognise the value these experts can bring to businesses and are expecting to not only utilise this resource over the next year, but also potentially allocate more budget to these specialists.”

It seems that IT contractors are right to be so confident, especially when looking at a study from August of this year from Computer People, which revealed that the demand for IT contractors is double the rate of permanent placements.
