Those who are entitled to tax credits should start to receive their annual renewal packs between now and the last week of May.
HM Revenue & Customs have said that around 2.1 million people will receive their packs, with their customers having until the 31st of July to check their details are correct and up-to-date.
There are around 630,000 people who will need to confirm their circumstances to renew their tax credits for the 2022 to 2023 tax year.
You can renew online and check the progress of your renewal (whether it’s being processed yet and when to expect to hear back from HMRC) by logging onto GOV.UK.
Those who claim tax credits must ensure that they inform HMRC of any changes that may affect tax credit payments, such as:
- Living arrangements
- Working hours
- Income (either an increase or decrease).
HMRC are reminding people that tax credits will be replaced by Universal Credit by the end of 2024.
