A new survey has revealed that nearly half of UK job seekers say that they fully intend to use ChatGPT to boost their next job search.

The CV-Library survey of 4,000 UK professionals found that 71% aren’t concerned that the AI might overstate their abilities and 63% don’t believe that using it would be misleading to potential employers.

Of the 42.7% who are planning to use the tool, this is how they intend to use it:

  • To explore which roles would match their skills (cited by 44.6%)
  • To help write their CV (41.6%)
  • To help write their cover letter (37%)
  • To get a better understanding of the role they’re applying for (35.2%)
  • To help with possible interview responses (32.2%)
  • All of the above (38.9%)

Commenting on the findings, Lee Biggins, Founder and CEO of CV-Library, said, “AI has already revolutionised many of the fundamental aspects of recruitment, automating and streamlining processes, such as CV screening, candidate selection, and even interviewing.

“It’s both expected and understandable that candidates will also take the opportunity to use the tool.”

Lee added, “Concerns over inflating CV content are valid but, if regulation is put in place and it’s used correctly, ChatGPT can help candidates create a powerful CV that stands out in the hiring process and helps secure an interview.”
