Umbrella company contractors will be pleased to hear that an offshore company will be opening a new base in Tyneside, which will provide more job opportunities in the area.

The Aberdeen-based company, Technip, is expected to create more than 60 jobs, which will be made available for permanent staff, freelancers and contractors working through umbrella companies.

Eventually it is expected that there will be thousands of jobs made with the oil and gas industry growing fast in Tyneside, as the UK’s oil capital Aberdeen is already full of these types of companies.  David Hodkinson, Technip’s UK vice president explained that the available talent in this region is also attracting more green power firms.

He said, “This is a very strong area for our business to grow because of the health of the offshore energy sector here, and there are the engineering skills available here that we need to recruit.

“Aberdeen is already full with the oil and gas business and there is room here for this industry to grow.

“We are looking for opportunities and this is a growing area. We are looking to work with all the major companies here as well as elsewhere. Over the next 10 years we are expecting £100bn of offshore wind business to be developed in the UK and the biggest is in Dogger Bank.”

The company, which was launched at the end of last year, already has 220 members of staff at its offices in Germany, France, London and of course Aberdeen.  It is hoped that the latest Tyneside base will give it better access to growing areas of the industry.
