The National Guardian’s Office has launched an independent review to ensure that nurses working on temporary assignments can speak up and be listened to without fear.

An essential asset to the NHS, temp nurses are being urged to get involved with the review so they can have their say.

This recently launched review is a direct response to a recommendation made by the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB) in 2024.

The HSSIB found that temporary workers in the NHS face discrimination and fear negative consequences from speaking up and raising safety concerns.

The review aims to identify and address these barriers faced by temporary nurses.

This will not only create a ‘freedom to speak up’ environment, but will also increase patient safety.
