In a recent survey, it’s been found that as many as 84% of organisations have failed to inform drivers about the IR35 changes and the impact it will have on them.

The latest IR35 Driver Survey, carried out by recruiter Gi Group UK, revealed that 46% of respondents don’t understand what the IR35 legislation is and how it impacts contractors providing services via a Limited Company.

Sixty-six per cent would increase their daily or hourly rates if a haulier were to give an ‘inside IR35 determination on an assignment’ which would mean having to pay employee tax and NI on earnings.

Richard Madej, Gi Group UK Head of Driving, commented on the findings, “With uncertainty around the IR35 legislation, and as of April 2020 the responsibility for the determination of whether a role falls inside or outside of IR35 falling to the client rather than the contractor, it has never been more important for them to have complete trust in the advice they receive.”

Madej added, “Gi Group is working closely with the regulatory bodies and industry specialists to clarify the changes to IR35 and the implications for our private sector clients. We will be ideally positioned to advise clients and prospects on any required changes and ensure compliance with the new rules.”
