The real question is ‘how can I avoid the costs of non-compliance’? The simple answer is to ensure that you are up to date with the changes in legislation that will affect your business either directly or indirectly. Membership of a trade body will ensure that you are kept up to date with industry news, social media is a great way of discussing potential issues with industry colleagues and government RSS feeds will provide you with all the latest legislation changes. If you have an umbrella company PSL, it’s important that you make sure that those companies’ practices and procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure that their standards of compliance match your own. If you don’t have a dedicated team to do this then a review from a group such as AUCAE will save your business time and money. Proper due diligence and compliance management is not cheap but it could cost your recruitment company far more if you get it wrong and fall foul of HMRC.
